Terms of Service.

1. Who We Are

The Situation Room is a children's decision-making enrichment program based in Redmond, Washington, serving children ages 6–16. We are an educational program. We are not a therapy, counseling, medical, or mental-health service, and nothing we provide is a substitute for professional care.

2. Who May Enroll

Our website and forms are intended for use by parents and legal guardians. By enrolling a child, you confirm that you are the child's parent or legal guardian and have the authority to enroll them and agree to these Terms on their behalf.

3. Reserving a Spot

Reserving a spot or requesting an information session through our website is free and does not commit you to anything. It simply lets us hold a place and reach out to confirm details. No payment is taken at the time you reserve. Enrollment becomes final only when you confirm with us and complete payment.

4. Payment

• Program fees are stated on our website at the time you enroll. All fees exclude applicable taxes.
• Ongoing enrollment is billed monthly as a month-to-month subscription. Fixed short programs, such as the "Wise Owls" 6-week cycle, are a single payment covering the full cycle.
• Payment is processed securely through our third-party payment provider. We do not store your full card details.
• Your place in a cohort is confirmed once payment is received.
• A free introductory session involves no payment, and there is nothing to refund.

5. Cancellation & Refunds

• Before you pay: reserving costs nothing and you may change your mind freely.
• First-session guarantee: for any new enrollment, if you are not satisfied after your child's first session, email us within 7 days of that session and we will refund that cycle or month's fee in full, to your original payment method.
• Monthly enrollment, after the guarantee period: you may cancel at any time to stop future billing, effective at the end of the current month. Your child keeps their place for the sessions you have already paid for. If you cancel mid-month having attended no more than one session that month, we will refund the unattended sessions pro-rata on request.
• Fixed short programs, after the guarantee period: if you withdraw part-way through a cycle, we will refund the sessions your child has not yet attended, pro-rata, to your original payment method.
• Missed sessions: a session your child misses is not automatically refunded, but tell us in advance and we will offer a make-up session in another cohort of the same track where one is running, or refund it pro-rata if we cannot.
• Exceptional circumstances: if something serious happens — illness, injury, a family emergency, a move — talk to us. We will find a fair answer, and we will not hide behind these terms.
• If we cancel: if we cancel a cohort or session and cannot offer a reasonable alternative, we will refund the affected portion of your fee in full. This is not discretionary.
• How to request a refund: email team@thesituationroomwa.com and tell us what you'd like. We aim to acknowledge within two business days and to process approved refunds within ten business days, to your original payment method.

6. Program Changes

We may occasionally need to adjust schedules, session times, facilitators, locations, or scenario content. We will give families reasonable notice of significant changes. Scenario content is age-appropriate and calibrated to each track; it does not include graphic, frightening, or adult material.

7. Participation & Conduct

Our sessions depend on a respectful, safe environment for every child. We ask that children participate respectfully toward facilitators and peers. We may, with care and communication, remove a child from a session or the program if their conduct repeatedly disrupts the group or affects others' safety or wellbeing. We will always try to work with you first.

8. Your Child's Information

How we handle the information you provide about your family and child is described in our Privacy Policy. Photo or media permissions, if any, are handled through a separate consent form — we do not assume consent through these Terms.

9. No Guarantee of Outcomes

We are committed to a high-quality program and measurable progress signals. However, children develop at their own pace, and we cannot guarantee specific outcomes, behavioral changes, or results for any individual child. We do, however, guarantee your satisfaction with the service itself — see Cancellation & Refunds above.

10. Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, The Situation Room is not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your or your child's participation. Our total liability for any claim relating to a program is limited to the amount you paid for that program. Nothing in these Terms limits any liability that cannot lawfully be limited.

11. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms as our program evolves. When we do, we'll update the "last updated" date above. Continued use of our website or programs after a change means you accept the updated Terms.

12. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Washington, without regard to its conflict-of-law rules.
