The Situation Room ("we," "us," "our") runs a children's decision-making program in Redmond, Washington. We care about protecting the privacy of the families we serve. This policy explains what information we collect, why, how we keep it safe, and the choices you have. We've written it in plain language on purpose.
A note on children: Our website and forms are intended for use by parents and guardians, not children. We do not knowingly let children under 13 submit information through this site. Any information about a child is provided to us by their parent or guardian — never collected from the child online.
Information We Collect
We collect only what we need to run the program and keep you informed about your child's progress. Specifically:
Parent / guardian details — your name, email address, and (optionally) phone number, when you reserve a spot, request an info session, or create a parent-portal account.
Child details — your child's first name and age, provided by you, so we can place them in the right age track.
Program progress information — notes and measurable signals a facilitator records during sessions (such as how many options your child named, and which "doors" they tend to use), so we can show you their growth over a cycle.
Payment information — if and when you pay for a program, payment is handled by our payment processor. We do not see or store your full card number.
How We Use Information
We use the information above to:
Confirm enrollment and place your child in an appropriate age track.
Communicate with you about sessions, scheduling, and your child's progress.
Provide you secure access to your own child's progress report through the parent portal.
Process payments for programs you choose to enroll in.
Improve our program and respond to your questions.
How We Protect It
Each family can see only their own child's information through a secure, invite-only parent portal.
Progress data is stored in a secured database, and portal access requires a verified login.
We limit who has access to family information to those who need it to run the program.
Sessions are not publicly broadcast or live-streamed.
What We Do Not Do
We do not sell, rent, or trade your or your child's personal information.
We do not share family information with advertisers.
We do not use your child's information for any purpose beyond running the program and reporting progress to you.
Service Providers
We use a small number of trusted third-party services to operate — for example, to host our website, capture form submissions, manage portal logins, store progress data, and process payments. These providers handle data on our behalf and are not permitted to use it for their own purposes. We share only what is necessary for them to perform their function.
How Long We Keep Information
We keep family and progress information only as long as needed to provide the program and for reasonable record-keeping afterward. If you would like your information removed, contact us and we will delete it, except where we are required to retain certain records.
Your Choices & Rights
You may, at any time:
Ask what information we hold about your family.
Ask us to correct or update it.
Ask us to delete it (subject to any legal record-keeping requirements).
Withdraw from the program and request that your child's data be removed.
To make any of these requests, just email us at the address below.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy as our program grows or as requirements change. When we do, we'll update the "last updated" date above. Enrolled families will be notified of any significant changes.
